In furthering our commitment to providing a diverse educational experience, Placer Elementary and the supporting PTC have partnered with SPARK Programming to deliver a single day, no-charge software programming course to all 5th and 6th grade students. Only offered to Placer students, Software Programming for Kids will stimulate student creative thinking, collaboration and systematic reasoning. This is the first of many planned technology and robotics programs to be offered at Placer Elementary.
During school hours on March 17, all 5th and 6th grade students will learn how to build a small video game that they can play and share with their friends. Delivered by youth volunteers, this hands-on program will teach students essential skills and methodologies needed to plan, manage and code a software development project.
Parents and Volunteers We are looking for more than 10 volunteers to help keep students on pace during the program. Parents of 5th and 6th graders are encouraged to participate in the program with their child. Volunteers do not need coding experience. Interested in helping out? Fill out this brief form.
